Underwater bubble city

Starting out with a bang if I'd say so myself. I've completed a commission for a Dungeons and Dragons setting scene. Its an underwater virtual city that I dubbed the 'bubble city'. It took me longer than I expected, but creating it was a lot of fun! My favourite part must be the whale going through the city!

With this the first project for my new portfolio is done. I'ts going into the fantasy section of my personal portfolio, though I'm very proud of it and would like to put it into my main portfolio I'm usre I'll make even better pieces that are more suitable for that :)

The portfolio plan

I've made a vague plan for my portfolio making sure to include the main types of illustrations I do as a professional freelancer. This is essentially me focusing in on the publishing industry, I really enjoy and have the most experience in creating quick illustrations for editorials as well as slightly longer pieces for book covers and book illustrations. I've also done some commissions already that are outside of the niche I'd like to work in, however I'll also include these so that I can showcase my ability to work under different circumstances.

The tabe below shows my current plan for my new portfolio. Though some of these are very specific they might change as I go along, I'm leaving myself some wiggle room so I can add or remove any projects as I feel like. Both portfolios have 4 themes each and I'll be keeping to that with no changes, as I feel like some structure is necessary. The professional has editorials, book covers and book illustrations as well as some space for miscelaneous work while the personal portfolio has pixel art (a current hobby of mine) drawings created during my daily endavour to improve myself, fantasy inspired works, mainly scenes (and some fanart scenes too), and a section for character drawings, illustrations and sheets.

I'll be starting with my personal portfolio, as I haven't done much professional like work for a while, I'm quite nervous and I'm hoping that by the time I'm done with my personal portfolio I'd have warmed up a little.

Old portfolio

I creted this portfolio during my last semester at university a little over a year ago. Since then, nothing much has changed, I kept looking at my old work and I was satisfied witth it. Though being satisfied and happy with my work is a good thing, it stopped me from creating more work that I could add into the portfolio. Instead I made lots of sketches and small drawings that, although may look nice, aren't exactly portfolio worthy for me and for what I want to showcase to my possible clients. On top of all that, I've grown, imporvements were made, and I feel like it's about time for this portfolio to reflect that.

This is what the portfolio looks like right now, it has a lot of my favourite projects that I've done during university, including the room illustrations from Howl's moving castle, my Wunderkammer end of year showcase editorial that got printed, a book cover for Bill Bryson's  A short history of nearly everything, and the tigers editorial piece.
Below is also the other pages on my portfolio, these include an awkward about me page, and a side portfolio full of personal work that isn't my main focus but I had fun creating.

I'm planning to make several projects and standalone illustrations to fill up and update my portfolio. Hope it goes well :)
